WOW! That’s A Lot Of Sex Toys!

It was announced recently that two giants of the sex toy industry will be merging in a deal worth upwards of $1.2Billion.  The merger will be between U.K based online retailer, Lovehoney, the same company who produce the interactive Lovense toys, used by all our Babestation babes on their pervcam shows and Germany’s WOW Tech Group.  When the companies merge they will be known as ‘Lovehoney Group’ and will count more than 730 employees across 10 offices in 25 countries.

The merger comes amid a sharp rise in global demand for sex toys fueled in part by the pandemic and once it goes ahead will be expected to generate sales of around $400,000 by the end of the year, around the double the combined level reached in 2020 by all sex toy companies.

In a statement, WOW Tech, (and now Lovehoney Group’s) current Chief Executive said this:  “We are excited about this transaction and partnership. Amorana, Lovehoney and WOW Tech share the same mission to destigmatize sexuality, empower people to enjoy a fulfilling love life and experience sexual happiness,” said Plettenberg in a separate statement. “Combined, we will be even better placed to contribute to bringing sexual happiness to the center of society. This will benefit our entire industry. We are looking forward to continuing to work with our teams to create even more value for all our B2B partners and their customer base. By partnering even more closely together, I am certain we can all achieve our common goals.”

It is noted by the Wall Street Journal that sex toy sales grew by 26% in 2020 to $33.6 billion and despite a predicted drop by 9% this year, those figure are expected to improve by the middle of 2022 and maintain a steady 8% rise annually until 2028…that’s a lot of sex toys!
