The fascinating biography “Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me From Hollywood” by the former “Boy Meets World” Disney channel actress, Maitland Ward, has just been released and she talks a lot about Hollywood’s response to her X-Rated career change.
Ward appeared at the Barnes & Noble store in LA to present “Rated X” and autograph copies following a Q&A with friend and porn director, Kayden Kross, who is the head of XXX porn video production company, Deeper, with whom Maitland makes her adult films as a contract star. Ward described the book as “a sex-positive, behind-the-scenes look at both Hollywood and the adult entertainment industry.”
Mainland’s rep addresses the crowd at Barnes at Noble:
“From sitcom secrets on mainstream sets to passionately public sex scenes with Vixen Media Group, Maitland reveals exclusive details about her transcendent career and road to triple-X stardom in this sharp, provocative tale.”
An extract from the book details an encounter Maitland Ward had with Elizabeth Berkley from Saved By The Bell:
“Elizabeth Berkley was canoodling with a man as I exited Whole Foods with a bag of produce on my hip. I hate the word “canoodling” but that’s what it was – less passion, more noodle, with a “can” added to the front for encouragement.
She pulled away from the man, her face pickling as she witnessed me – a woman with a bun atop her head, clumsily managing a bag of vegetables, who also happens to fuck men with dicks as big as the zucchinis poking out of the sack on camera.”

In the book, Ward revealed that people initially assumed she was looking for cheap fame. That, or she was under the influence of drugs or being coerced somehow. She continued:
“But I did not make a sex tape to garner attention like Paris or Kim. I wasn’t trying to copycat them and get a quick fifteen minutes. I wanted a long-term commitment doing something I loved and that I could be proud of. I wanted years. And that’s something mainstream Hollywood has long denied me.”
“But unlike Paris or Kim, I did not create a sex tape to attract attention. I didn’t try to imitate them in order to earn an extra fifteen minutes. I wanted to make a long-term commitment to doing something I was proud of and that I liked. I desired years. And mainstream Hollywood has long denied me that. Porn gave me that.”
“I’m so proud that my book is being so well received by the mainstream media, not only for myself but for the porn industry as a whole.”
In an article for Forbes in 2021, Maitland Ward discusses OnlyFans and touches on their new soft-launched its safe-for-work app, OFTV, a video streaming app that features non-sexual content like cooking and fitness shows. Maitland said:
“OnlyFans cannot survive without porn. It was built on sex work. And everyone knows it for sex work.”
