Hardman said that whenever she meets with a world leader, she always carefully examines two files. One is called \u201cpersonality notes\u201d and the other is \u201ctopics to be avoided\u201d.<\/p>\n

One paragraph in \u2018personality notes\u2019 talks about an unnamed Caribbean prime minister in 1977 who was described as \u2018unbalanced, at times to the point of apparent derangement\u2019 and \u2018a ladies\u2019 man with a particular liking for blondes\u2019. The pornography paper appeared in the \u2018topics to be avoided\u2019 file ahead of the meeting with the Queen of Denmark. It said:<\/p>\n

In Hardman\u2019s discussion, which was funded by The Rothermere Foundation, he also discussed the significance of “wardrobe diplomacy” and the “personal effort” that goes into the Queen\u2019s interactions with international leaders. According to Hardman, she “totally nailed it” at a state banquet during her first official visit to Germany in 1965, which was dubbed “an historic post-war event” because she ordered a dress to fit the rococo style of the palace where it was held. She didn’t need to utter a word; they were completely floored, said Hardman. He continued<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has become such an institution that she now even has her own entry in the German dictionary. Duden does for German what the Oxford Dictionary does for English.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Duden dictionary previously had “die K\u00f6nigin,” which is just your run-of-the-mill queen. However, it now says “die Queen” which is pretty epic. In other news, Bulgaria\u2019s Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha paid tribute to our Queen, calling her \u2018blessed person\u2019 as he looked back on her long reign. Simeon, told the Chalke Valley History Festival:<\/p>\n
